There will be two nipper enrolment days held prior to the start of the 2010-2011 Nipper season.
• Sunday 19th September at the clubhouse from 10am to midday.
• Saturday 9th October at the clubhouse from 10am to midday.

Nipper registration fees for 2010-2011 are First child $80, Second and subsequent children $60 each
Parent ‘General Membership’ for the year is $35 per person.

Congratulations to South Maroubra's IRB competition team who took 4th place at the Pacific Palms carnival on the weekend.  The 4th place secured an overall 3rd place in the NSW IRB Series.
31st May Pacific Palms IRB Carnival sees some new Medal winners and some old faces.
Well done Ronnie Krite, Jake Hannigan, Chris Muravolgyi on winning their first State IRB Premiership Medal. All 3 won bronze in the 35+ teams.  Other medals winners were, David Dubois, Alan Machon and Simon Torsellini in the 35+ Teams.  Damien Woods, Casey Morton and Brad Ellison Won silver in the Open Men's Tube.

South Maroubra finished 4th overall. A tough Weekend considering their equipment didn't arrive back from Tasmania until 9pm the day before the windang carnival, with half of it damaged in transport back from Tasmania.

Congratulations to all our Nippers who Competed at the 2010 State Nipper Championship.


The South Maroubra team of 64 children performed outstandingly with many children making semi’s and finals and 15 receiving medals.

South Maroubra placed 12th in the overall point score which is an outstanding result considering the total membership of our club and the small team that we sent to State. I congratulate each and every one of the children on their efforts. Special thanks to the Team Managers, Coaches, Captains and parents for making the weekend such a memorable occasion.

25th Feb SYDNEY BRANCH AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Sydney Branch Age Carnival has been rescheduled for Sunday 7th March 2010. (Due to being cancelled on Sun 7th Feb due to large seas).
The carnival is still being held at Elouera Beach commencing at 8am for U8 TO U13 AGE GROUPS. All proficient South Maroubra nippers in these age groups are invited to partake in the carnival. Please see your Age Manager if you are interested in attending if you did not previously express an interest.
25th Feb NEXT YEARS STATE NIPPER CARNIVAL
Next year’s State Age Carnival will be held on Friday 11th March to Sunday 13th March 2011 at Kingscliff NSW. The Surf Club has booked accommodation (Villas and Cabins) at the Pyramid Holiday Park, Tweed Heads. We have secured a number of Deluxe Villas, Family and Budget Cabins (which each hold a max of 6 people). The Holiday park only has 25 cabins for us so if you are interested in going to the State Carnival next year and wish to stay with the South Maroubra Group then you will need to see YVETTE immediately and pay a $50 holding deposit to secure your accommodation. The park does have tent and caravan sites so you may wish to peruse your own booking if this type of accommodation suits your needs.  Website: www.pyramidpark.com.au

Don’t forget to book your table or seats for our upcoming Trivia Night being held on Friday 5th February 2010 at the surf club commencing at 7pm. Paul Sironen is our Guest MC – loads of prizes and fun games throughout the night.  Bookings can be made via the club office.  The theme for the night is Hawaiian – prizes for the best dressed.  

23rd Jan South Maroubra SLSC Bowls & Beers - 6th February
Its time to bring the social side of South Maroubra back! So to kick off the new year (a month late), get down to Coogee Bowling Club from 4pm for some fun in the sun, with some barefoot lawn bowls and a whole lot of beers. The Coogee surf carnival is on the same day, so if you are competing make sure you bring some clothes and come to the bowls after your racing has finished. Don’t forget that on Saturday 30th January we will be holding our twilight nippers – report time is 3:30 pm. 13th Jan A Drink For Bernie Kelly.   Sunday 17th January
This year will mark the 12th anniversary of the passing of Bernie Kelly. Bernie lost his life on the beach where he dedicated 23 years to the safety of the public at  South Maroubra.  A great loss was suffered with the Surf lifesaving movement and within the community.  On Sunday the 17th January we will have a drink for Bernie and remember a great club man.

17th Dec Boxing Day Public Holiday (Monday 28th Dec).
We need your help!!!!.

Although Boxing Day is on Saturday this year, the public holiday for boxing day will be on Monday 28th December.  SLSA requires us to patrol on Monday, which currently does not have any rostered patrols in our calendar.  I require volunteer's for both the morning shift ( 8:45 - 1:30) and Afternoon Shift (1:15- 6:00pm). Boardies Day is an easy, fun way to support our volunteer surf lifesavers. Simply organise with your school or work mates to wear boardshorts or beachwear on the 28th of November and you can help us raise desperately needed funds for Surf Life Saving. Funds raised will help provide our lifesavers with the equipment and training to do what they do best - save lives!

29th Oct SOUTH MAROUBRA SLSC Sportsman's $50 Day
On Sunday the 8th November, top lounge in the club house,, Starts at 1pm.  The $50 door entry covers BBQ lunch and refreshments.  Guest speakers include Rugby League Legend Paul Sironen, Cricket great Doug Walters, Comedian Ray Seager. 

Plenty of Sports memorabilia and raffles.  The club bus will be operational to assist guests getting home ( local area only).  All Members, Friends and supporters welcome.

Competitors attending the function will have the $50 deducted off their Australian Touring team accommodation costs. Guests can nominate where their $50 goes. Tickets sold at the door .

29th Oct OKTOBERFEST .
The Board of management would like to thank all our members who assisted with the 2009 Oktoberfest last Sunday.  Although the weather was against  us , there was still a great atmosphere for our members and the community to enjoy.  The fantastic German food and beer sold on the day, helped raise some valuably needed funds for the club.  Thank You !!!

The Oktoberfest is an important Club fundraising event and is scheduled to be held this coming Sunday 25th October in conjunction with the Maroubra District Chamber of Commerce Fun Run. 

The Board of Management (BOM) has deemed Oktoberfest a club ‘special event’, where senior club competitors (SRC holders and above) who wish to be considered for state or national touring team selection are required to assist as per the Competitor Agreement 2009/2010 . All senior competitors are requested to contact the Director of Competition ( Greg Morris) as soon as possible
or on mobile telephone number 0408 821 488  to indicate their availability to participate in one or more of the ‘workforce’ shifts.
22nd Oct Michael "Murph" Renford's update from the Catalina Marathon swim.
Having swum the English Channel in 2007 and around Manhattan Island, New York earlier this year, the Catalina Channel was my last swim needed to complete the Triple Crown of Marathon Swimming. Thirty-six swimmers have successfully completed the Triple Crown including two Australians, James Pittar and Penny Palfrey.  Click here to read more

The Board of Management would like all members to remember to lock any doors or windows that they my open up at the club early in the morning or late at night.  We have already had a few things been stolen and non members working through the club or using the Gym.

We wish to advise that there has been a change in our previously advertised Nipper Registration Dates.  We will now be conducting 1 nipper rego date - that being SUNDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER at the clubhouse from10am till 2pm.

We will NOT be conducting registrations at the DRAC.

Alternatively you can drop down to the club office on any Saturday (9am till 2pm) to register. Nipper activities will commence on Sunday 18th October 09 at 9am.

All U14 Nippers, U16 Cadets and U18 Juniors are invited to Malabar Beach on Saturday 17th October 2009 to participate in an activity aimed at fun and ‘have a go’.  The Club will have various items of surf life saving equipment available for you to ‘have a go’ on. (boards, skis, IRB, Surfboat). Activities will be fully supervised by Club members. 10.00 am till 2.00 pm.

28th Aug Bronze medallion  / Advanced Resuscitation / Defibrillator Courses starting 29th September.
Lifesaving is the backbone of our club and this is the prefect time to introduce a friend to surf life saving and the Club.  The introduction night on the 29th September will be held at the surf club at 7:00 pm. All welcome.
Current Bronze medallion holders should consider gaining their Advance Resuscitation Certificate (ARC) and Defibrillation Award to further enhance their lifesaving skills.

Attention University O-Week students from Sydney and NSW Universities.
An Introduction / Open day will be held on Saturday the 4th April 2009 at 11:00 am at the surf club for those wishing to start training immediately.

17th Mar Do you know the History of South Maroubra Surf Club.  
South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club this year is celebrating a strong tradition of 50 years in surf lifesaving and friendship, starting from a handful of friends in a tent on the sand dunes to a club that now has over 600 senior and junior members. It was founded in 1959, formed in part by members of Malabar and Maroubra Surf Life Saving Clubs.
